Nailers
Announce 2008-09 Season Schedule
The Wheeling
Nailers have released their 2008-09 ECHL Season Schedule. The Nailers
will play 72 games, against eight different teams, and 36 will be held at
WesBanco Arena.
For the first time since the 2003-04 season, the Nailers kick off the
season schedule at home against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday Oct. 17th,
at 7:35. The Nailers then travel to Johnstown to battle the Chiefs on
Saturday Oct. 18th. Wheeling's six of their first seven games will be at
WesBanco Arena.
The Nailers will travel down south to take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots
(Nov. 4th and 6th), and the Mississippi Sea Wolves (Nov. 7th and 8th).
The Ice Pilots will come to WesBanco Arena on January 9th and 11th, while the
Sea Wolves will visit January 31st and February 1st. Wheeling will play
64 games against the North Division rivals.
Wheeling will play their annual day before Thanksgiving game against the
Johnstown Chiefs. The Nailers play the day after Christmas and New Years
Eve games against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Nailers will also host
the Trenton Devils on St. Patrick's Day.
The Nailers hook up with the Johnstown Chiefs and
twelve times each, while playing the Elmira Jackals and the Dayton Bombers eleven times
each.
Wheeling plays the Reading Royals, Trenton Devils, and the
defending
Brabham Cup Champions, the Cincinnati Cyclone
each ten times..
The Nailers next game is October 17th, 2008, at 7:35, as they kick off the 2008-09
season, against the Cincinnati Cyclones, at WesBanco Arena. You can hear the Nailers,
on their new radio station, The Mix WK97.3 and ESPN Radio 1250 AM, the pre-game show starts 30 minutes before the puck
drops.

Conference Finals are Set
The Kelly Cup
Playoffs are down to the final four teams. The American Conference will
see the Cincinnati Cyclones take on the South Carolina Stingrays. In the
National Conference, it will be the Las Vegas Wranglers against the Utah
Grizzles.
The Cyclones advanced to the American Conference Finals, with game seven
victory over the Reading Royals. The South Carolina Stingrays knocked
out the Columbia Inferno in five games, to move on the American Conference
finals.
The Las Vegas Wranglers eliminated the Alaska Aces, in five games of a
best of seven series. The Wranglers will meet the six seed Utah
Grizzles, who upset the number two seed, Victoria Salmon Kings, four games to
two.

next meeting is
April 8th at 7:00 PM.
The meeting will still be in "The Club"" unless otherwise posted.
ECHL
has concluded their mid-season Board of
Governors meeting. The ECHL has granted voluntary suspension of Myrtle
Beach, who are awaiting the completion of an arena. The ECHL will say
good-bye to the Columbia Inferno and the Texas Wildcatters. The
Wildcatters franchise will live on, as they will re-locate to Ontario, CA, to
become the Ontario Reign.
The Inferno has suspended operations due to not having a lease in place for
the Carolina Coliseum, The Inferno franchise is looking into Lexington,
SC, to return to the ECHL. The Toledo franchise will resume play in
2009-10, in their new arena, with a new name, the Toledo Walleye.
