What is the Wheeling Nailers Booster Club?
-
The Wheeling Nailers Booster Club
is a non-profit organization made up of enthusiastic hockey fans dedicated
to assisting and supporting professional hockey in the Wheeling area.
|
What is done in the Booster Club?
-
Since its start in 1992, the Booster
Club has provided the Wheeling Thunderbirds/ Nailers players with appreciated
extras such as comfortable outfits to wear to and from away games, snacks
on road trips, and essential items for their living quarters to list a
few. The Booster Club makes every player feel at home with carefully chosen
members who "adopt" them into their homes and treat them as part of their
own families.
-
Throughout its nine-year existence the Booster Club
has also supported the local community by donating over $36,000 to local
charities through the sale of 50/50 raffle tickets at every home game.
-
The Booster Club support is essential on the ice
as well as off the ice. The boosters support the team by organizing bus
trips to away games, leading cheers, and making banners and signs that
are hung throughout the Hammerdome (Wheeling Civic Center).
